Implants are at the forefront of restorative dentistry and can be used to fill unwanted gaps caused by tooth loss with the state-of-the-art moulds that look just like real teeth.
To help you learn more, here we answer some of the most commonly asked questions about dental implants and introduce our free no-obligation consultation sessions.
How do dental implants work?
A dental implant is a small and durable post manufactured using biocompatible metals or ceramics. Implants are inserted into the jaw bone under local anaesthetic, taking the place of the missing root that would previously have supported the tooth below the gum line.
When the implant is ready, a crown fitting is attached to the implant, replacing the missing tooth.
How long does treatment take?
Once the implant has been put in place, the healing process usually takes from 6 to 12 weeks. In this time it is important that the implant becomes securely fused to the jaw bone in a process called Osseointegration.
Once this phase is complete the individual crowns can be safely applied to the implant.
How long do dental implants last?
Dental implants are popular because they offer a permanent solution to replacing lost teeth and with good care will last a lifetime.
What if I have multiple missing teeth?
If you have multiple missing teeth or have issues with dentures, then ‘All-on-4’ dental implants offer a perfect solution. This special treatment allows four implants to be created on a non-removable arch of teeth, all in just one day.
